Hi y’all!
My name is Sylvie Elrod and I am 18 years old! I have just recently graduated from New Braunfels Christian Academy in New Braunfels, TX where I have grown up my whole life (and loved it).
I am very passionate about sports, music and my dog, Doc. I played any sport I could throughout middle and high school and loved every second of it, from my teammates to my many wipeouts. I will always have a special place for organized sports in my heart. I also come from a very musically inclined family which always drew me to deeply appreciate live music and theater. I have seen a shared love of music or sports break down barriers and draw communities together which is why I think they are some of God’s greatest gifts to our world. I also love the outdoors, any activity that involves the river. My secret passion is swing dancing. But what brings me the most joy is spending time with my family. My best memories have always centered around my whole family, good food and good music.
I have always grown up in the church and accepted Jesus Christ as my Savior at a young age. I was blessed to have so many strong Christian men and women placed into my life to help answer the tough questions but also encourage me to be okay with the mystery of God as I grew up. With that being said, I have made many mistakes and have not always represented Christ well. I have wanted to do mission work since middle school but stopped pursuing this dream because my sin made me feel so unworthy to be a vessel for the gospel. This year God has truly opened my eyes to His abundant grace and I want to do the World Race so I can grow my dependence on Him and truly experience living in the freedom of His promises. I am excited to be challenged, to serve, to love others, to be vulnerable and to see God’s plan for me and my squad unfold on this trip!
I am excited to share this journey with you and anyone who will listen!

Sylvie,
So excited and blessed by your testimony and commitment to Christ’s work!
Will be praying that as you fulfill the Great Commission, you also grow in the power, strength and discernment of the Lord!
